"I’m just too busy for God". Did that statement catch you off guard or does that resonate with you? Often times we find ourselves not making God a priority. We get so distracted with the things that matter little. In fact, sometimes we are ‘distracted’ with work on the Lord’s behalf. We find a great example of this in the Bible in Luke 10:38-42.
As we read these verses we learn of two sisters who were friends of Jesus. Upon learning that Jesus was coming to visit Martha began to ‘prepare’ everything in advance of his arrival. After his arrival Martha continued to remain busy putting and keeping everything in order while Mary remained “at the Lords feet listening to what he said”. Martha grew frustrated that she was doing all of the work while and insisted that Jesus order her to help her. He simply replied to Martha by saying "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
How busy are you? Are we allowing our schedules to crowd out the time we should be spending with the Lord? Let’s work to make and keep God the priority in our lives rather than remaining busy with things that simply don’t matter.
This is a very good message. I try (with failure at times) to ensure that I make time for God even if it means I lose some sleep or my personal projects are delayed. He seems to always replenish me when I long for Him instead of longing for everything else.
